This makes for a beautiful dessert when having friends over to eat, but I always try to make it the day before so it sets properly. However, sometimes the marscapone mixture is a bit runny and other times it sets firmly. Regardless - the bowl is always empty...

Ingredients
  • 500 grams marscapone
  • 300 mls of strong coffee
  • 2-3 TB kahlua
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup of caster sugar (sirosokeria)
  • cocoa powder
  • grated chocolate
  • 15-20 lady finger biscuits approx ( I use the brand Vincenzovo)
Directions
  • Step 1 Beat egg yolks and sugar until thick and pale in colour.
  • Step 2 Add marscapone and continue beating until well blended in.
  • Step 3 Add Kahlua.
  • Step 4 Mix the coffee with a splash of Kahlua and dip the biscuits in this liquid – don’t them soak for too long as they will fall apart – just a few seconds.
  • Step 5 Layer about 10 biscuits in the bottom of the bowl and add half of the marscapone mixture, grated chocolate.
  • Step 6 Continue with another layer. Dust the top with cocoa powder and refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours before serving.
  • Step 7 TIP: you can also make these in individual bowls so everyone has their own.
