: easy - make the day before
This makes for a beautiful dessert when having friends over to eat, but I always try to make it the day before so it sets properly. However, sometimes the marscapone mixture is a bit runny and other times it sets firmly. Regardless - the bowl is always empty...
Ingredients
- 500 grams marscapone
- 300 mls of strong coffee
- 2-3 TB kahlua
- 3 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup of caster sugar (sirosokeria)
- cocoa powder
- grated chocolate
- 15-20 lady finger biscuits approx ( I use the brand Vincenzovo)
Directions
- Step 1 Beat egg yolks and sugar until thick and pale in colour.
- Step 2 Add marscapone and continue beating until well blended in.
- Step 3 Add Kahlua.
- Step 4 Mix the coffee with a splash of Kahlua and dip the biscuits in this liquid – don’t them soak for too long as they will fall apart – just a few seconds.
- Step 5 Layer about 10 biscuits in the bottom of the bowl and add half of the marscapone mixture, grated chocolate.
- Step 6 Continue with another layer. Dust the top with cocoa powder and refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours before serving.
- Step 7 TIP: you can also make these in individual bowls so everyone has their own.
